Rain, Rain, Go Away?
I know, I know. It’s 90 degrees in sunny, southern California this week, why are we talking about rain? Well, in case you’re planning a wedding or event for this fall or winter, it’s worth mentioning that even here in paradise we manage to get a bit of precipitation! OK, OK, before you get freaked out, I have good news! NO, I do not have a tent…but that might be a good idea.
I found some a-ma-zing pictures from different photographers who looked at the rain and laughed at it…seriously. These guys are committed!
So for those who just have the gloomy clouds, guess what? It’s awesome lighting for photography. LifeImages capture this on a gloomy day…
So start checking that 100 day forecast to see what weather your big day may bring…and get ready to take stellar pictures either way!
Aren't They Exquisite?
Last year we were honored to be a part of Janie and David’s wedding at the beautiful Biel Family Estate in Napa Valley. In fact, it was so beautiful that Exquisite Weddings took notice and featured their wedding. Click here to see the entire feature!

Just another day…
…Hanging out at Bloomingdales!
Bloomingdales hosted a Pre Wedding Wedding Party at South Coast Plaza. Plenty of fun was involved. Lots of eye candy in way of dresses, make-up, and florals, as well as great advice from some of the best industry professionals. As far as food, they had yummy hors d’oeurves and wine on hand to make the registry process that much easier!
In case you didn’t make it don’t miss out on any of the fun events and perks in the future! To begin the registry process at Bloomingdales click here. Thanks for all those who stopped by. Congrats!

OFF the BEATen path…
Tradition. To some that is a wonderful word bringing comfort, nostalgia, the passing down of one’s heritage…
To others there is a slight cringe when that word is said, feeling the weight of expectations, judgment, and lack of personal creativity.
There are many places along those two extremes that one can fall. I am an in-between-er but would be a smidge closer to the non-traditional side.
I came across a blog that I found so interesting…it is called the Offbeat Bride. It highlights and showcases weddings where brides and grooms stayed true to themselves. It is fun to look at if you are a non-traditionalist as well as you who are more traditional. It can give ideas and inspiration to both! Here are a few glimpses of what I found…
I could not leave this lovely bride out…This goes to show that even a bride is not safe from chores on her big day…
À votre santé B & J
We had our first May weddings this weekend! Here is one of our happy couples who got in the booth and were complete pros…I guess the hours of taking pictures all day had helped a bit…but seriously, take a look at what naturals they are. And her DRESS. How beautiful is that?!

Hello May
Even though May is still technically Spring, it always feels like a great introduction to summer for me.
The April showers are gone…for the most part…and May tends to bring more sunny days, warm evening walks, and many many beautiful weddings!!
I had always wanted a summer wedding, but ended up-very happily-having a warm January wedding. So, for the fun of it, I made palette of things that look May-ish…

Anatomy of a Smile
We have all heard that it takes more muscles to frown than smile, but how many muscles is still to be determined. After some research, I found that many people have done their research and come up with a final number of muscles but the problem is none of different reports match up! To see all the different studies click here. Regardless of the numbers it does take less muscles to smile…so in the name of conserving energy, “turn that frown upside down”, cheesy I know. However, there are some people out there that will want to use to extra muscles and frown instead. If you are in our booth either is fine with us!

Goodbye April
It’s been a fun month. We love all of our crazy guests and fun brides & grooms. Thank you for making this month such a great one. We hope you enjoy these moments just as much as we did…

Closing Ceremonies…
To close out Earth Week, I have decided to post some great ideas to incorporate in your everyday life that can be helpful to the earth and mankind. I have also added a few ideas that were interesting and somewhat laughable. Let me know what you think, hey, you might even think some of the crazier ideas are doable! To each his own right?!
Stop using plastic. Easy enough right? Well, maybe not, I looked through my kitchen to realized all the plastic I have. You can start with reusable shopping bags, and this means ALL shopping, not just grocery shopping, skip the bags at retail stores etc, bring your own. Click here to see the different bags you can purchase.
Shop local. This has actually gotten easier and easier with all the different farmers markets. Research your area to find out the days your city holds them, and you might even meet some of the community too!
Get rid of your car. Not so easy right? I know, but maybe we can compromise on this one…how about “Drive Less”…walk more, ride bikes, take public transport, carpool.
Use less water. This is definitely doable. Turn off the water in the shower when you are soaping up. According to water.org “an American taking a five-minute shower uses more water than the typical person living in a developing country slum uses in a whole day.” Only wash full loads of laundry and dishes, use sink water sparingly.
Don’t Fly. Not so easy, or fun. Flying is the easiest and most time efficient way of traveling long distances. Either for fun or leisure this is not so easy to give up. My thought is that planes still fly half empty, so I don’t know how much I agree with this one. BUT, you can always learn about buy carbon credits if you feel so compelled by clicking here.
Don’t have a baby. Really? Really?? Super silly. There was one article that advised that kids add CO2 to a parent’s collective carbon footprint. Hmmm, carbon footprint or child, child or carbon footprint….
Hope these encourage you to be mindful of our resources…or at least brought some humor to your day!
